It is our firm belief that the classroom must be innovated, starting with the way teachers deliver content. The current model of “stand in front of the class and lecture” to a room of 30 – 40 kids is antiquated and in much need of innovation. MDTP wants to lead that charge. The Classroom Support Team approach is that innovation.
This model will take the teachers out of the traditional role and have them act as a facilitators or team managers. Their teams will consist of a student teacher, teaching assistant and a tech person. The goal is for the group to work collaboratively on classroom impact strategies that are data driven and individualized per student. This will allow the team to be more strategic with group work and when working with students on an individual basis. This will also help expand the reach of the teacher in schools that are already experiencing a shortage. We need volunteers to help achieve this goal.
