How long have you been a teacher?

Since 1999

What made you get into the teaching profession?

I liked being a teaching assistant during graduate school and realized it was something that I enjoyed and could do well. I also enjoy having my summers off!

Who was your most inspirational teacher and why?

My dad was my most inspirational teacher. He always encouraged me and told me I could do anything

What “fills your cup” when you’re running on empty?

I get inspired seeing students find connections to my story and how one moment of insight can change a persons life forever.

What is your wish for Arizona’s children?

I wish for Az children to use their one-of-a-kind and unique “space” to inspire those within their reach and beyond and to make their space just, equitable, diverse, and inclusive!

What does being selected as a Million Dollar Teacher Project Black History Month spotlight teacher mean to you?

It means that my voice and story resonates with a broad audience and I’m doing my part to inspire those within my reach and beyond!
